The Wine Spectator : 91 Points; Outstanding Balanced and intense, this generous red offers cassis, plum, chocolate and toast flavours, with ripe tannins and a clean finish. It has enough concentration to age and enough grace to be delicious now. Drink now through 2008.
Robert Parker in The Wine Advocate : 90 Points; Outstanding Both [Reviewing 1996 & 1995 Alion] these beautifully made Spanish reds represent a more modern approach to winemaking. Sweet toasty oak competes with jammy black cherry and berry fruit in these deep, low acid offerings. Both wines possess excellent to outstanding concentration, top flight purity, and overall equilibrium. There is more length to the 1996, but that is splitting hairs. Drink these impressively-endowed Ribera del Dueros over the next 10-12 years.
